LGBTQ+ Wine Label

Co-Fermented is an organisation dedicated to creating awareness and facilitating representation for the LGBTQIA+ community within the wine industry. They collaborated with Lightwell Survey vineyard to create two special edition bottles.

Brief

Illustrate two wine labels featuring icons Marsha P Johnson and Sylvia Rivera. The images should compliment each other aesthetically, and celebrate queer/poc activism. The NYC cityscape should be in the background, as well as a nod to the rainbow.

Sketches

Marsha is throwing a rock, referencing the stonewall riots and the continuing trans queer poc struggle. There’s a little rainbow in building as reference of the capitalist co- opting of pride. The cigarette in hand as a queer read of the statue of liberty flame.

Syliva: i wanted to depict her in a dreaming pose, escaping the boundaries of physicality,
rainbow element weaving into her dress. water features in a lot of photos of sylvia, and it was an element i wanted to incorporate. I see the flow of the water representing her continuing legacy
