Queer Wine Label
I worked with Co-Fermented to create their first wine collaboration with Lightwell Survey, in celebration of queer icons Marsha P Johnson and Sylvia Rivera.
Co-Fermented is an organisation dedicated to creating awareness and facilitating representation for the LGBTQIA+ community within the wine industry.
Brief
The images should compliment each other aesthetically, and celebrate queer/poc activism. The NYC cityscape should be in the background, as well as a nod to the rainbow.
Sketches
I wanted to depict Marsha throwing a rock, referencing the Stonewall riots and the continuing trans/queer/POC struggle. There’s a little rainbow in building as reference of the capitalist co-opting of pride. The cigarette in hand as a queer read of the Statue of Liberty flame.

For Syliva, i wanted to depict her in a dreaming pose, escaping the boundaries of physicality, with a rainbow element weaving into her dress. Water features in a lot of photos of sylvia, and it was an element i wanted to incorporate. I see the flow of the water representing her continuing legacy.
