Waterside, Bristol 

Waterside is a site shaped by its industrial past, defined by materials such as brick, steel and rivets. While the river is a prominent presence, it is largely hidden from view. The new walkway opens this space up to the public for the first time, revealing the rhythm of the arches beneath the bridge, which act as natural connectors through the site.

My concept responds directly to the architectural and environmental features, using the arches, water and shifting perspectives to guide people through the space. The artwork creates moments of discovery, revealing what is usually unseen and encouraging exploration through movement, pause and changing viewpoints.

Designed to be experienced from either direction, the work allows each journey to begin, pause or end at any point, reflecting the flow of past, present and future embedded within the site.
